Emulsifiers are necessary to combine oil and water into a homogeneous substance. There are food and cosmetic emulsifiers. The former are used to prepare various mayonnaises, ice cream, etc., and cosmetic ones are used to create creams, balms, and conditioners.

WHAT IS AN EMULSIFIER?

To prepare homemade cosmetics, you need to choose the right emulsifier, the choice of which primarily depends on what you will prepare: cream, balm or ointment. Or rather, the fat content of the final product that you want to get. Thus, based on the percentage of input and the temperature at which the emulsifier dissolves, you can choose the option that is suitable for your cosmetics. Emulsifiers are used in cosmetics to create a stable and uniform consistency. Today, artificial and natural emulsifiers are used in cosmetics.

The most popular natural emulsifiers are lecithin and lanolin. Lanolin is a product used to make lipstick, creams and shampoos. Thanks to this component, the protective function of the skin is increased, moisture loss is prevented, and the maximum level of hydration is guaranteed.

Aggressive emulsifiers are most often surfactants. Their effect destroys the lipid layer and improves the penetration of active substances into the deep layers of the epidermis. You can buy emulsifiers such as surfactants for the preparation of any cosmetic products: soaps, creams, shampoos, lotions, etc.
