Analytical grade urea is a widely used cosmetic and medical component. In addition, urea is actively used in cream making. Cosmetics use synthetic, not animal, urea.
The main task of urea is hydration. Urea in the human body is found in the skin. About 7% urea is found in natural moisturizing factor. Urea maintains moisture balance and has antibacterial and antimicrobial effects.
The price of urea is low and allows everyone involved in their production to improve cosmetic products.
In medicine, urea is used to solve dermatological issues. Its content in antifungal ointments reaches 50%. About 40% in medicinal ointments for the treatment of psoriasis, neurodermatitis, severe cracking.
In cosmetics, urea is included in hair shampoos, moisturizing creams, and fruit serums.
Important properties of urea for cosmetics:
- reduces moisture loss in the stratum corneum. Urea attracts moisture well and retains it. Helps cope with dehydration; maintains a protective barrier, restoring and renewing cells; effectively moisturizes, as it can receive moisture even from the air; helps other components penetrate the skin better and faster; heals wounds, speeds up this process; exfoliates dead cells (it is an excellent exfoliant), works well in combination with lactic acid.
Urea is considered safe, but there are points worth paying attention to:
- For those with oily, acne-prone skin, it is better to exclude products with urea from skin care products. Urea can increase the production of sebum in the skin, more pimples and blackheads will appear; for those with sensitive skin, products with urea may cause irritation; with severe irritations, wounds, redness, infections, it is better not to use urea; Children under three years of age should not use it at all.
Carbamide (urea) is most suitable for caring for dry and flaky skin.
Urea works well with trehalose and hyaluronic acid. It does not combine with betaine hydrochloride and betaine. Does not tolerate heating above 130 ?С.
Input percentage: 1-15%
- 2-4% hair product; 3-5% moisturizers; up to 7% healing agents; up to 15% exfoliation, fight against dead skin.
