Phenyl trimethicone (BC 98/073)
Phenyl trimethicone is a polymer that is a component of natural minerals - opal and quartz. It is a transparent, odorless, oily liquid, insoluble in water. Dissolves in alcohol and oils.
Considered the most “shiny” silicone, in hair care products it, due to its ability to refract light, can enhance the natural shine of hair. In addition, it increases the strength of the hair, covering it with the thinnest film; glues split ends of hair, adds volume to hair; provides good styling and heat resistance of hair; makes combing easier; prevents electrification of hair.
When used in lipstick, gloss and lip balm formulations, it provides an appetizing, glossy shine.
Phenyl trimethicone, introduced into the formulation of deodorants and sunscreens, prevents the appearance of white stains from cosmetics on clothes and skin and inhibits sweating.
When using this silicone in the manufacture of creams and lotions, the stickiness and stickiness of ingredients is reduced and the texture of the final product is improved.
Phenyl trimethicone is used to make
- sunscreen cosmetics (at a concentration of 2-8%)
- hair care products (shampoos, conditioners, balms - 1-5%)
- antiperspirants and deodorants (5-10%)
- shaving creams (1-20%)
- lotions and creams (2-5%)
- lipsticks, lip balms (1-3%)
- decorative cosmetics (0.5-5%).
In the manufacture of cosmetics, it is introduced either into the fatty phase or into cooled emulsions.
Phenyl trimethicone, in accordance with the general provisions of the European Union Cosmetics Directive, is recognized as an absolutely safe component that can be used without restrictions in the manufacture of cosmetics.
