Coco-Glucoside
Coco-glucoside is one of the very important components for a number of daily used cosmetics. It is added to cleansing gels, body scrubs, soaps and shower gels, and hair care products (shampoos and conditioners). It is also used in the manufacture of household chemicals.
Appearance: thick liquid of a cloudy yellow hue with a subtle sweetish odor.
Active substance content: 53.7%.
Water content (Karl Fischer): 46.3%
pH: 11.9 (in 20% aqueous solution).
Solubility: soluble in water.
Heppler viscosity, 20°C: 1691 MPa.s
Coconut derivative perfectly washes dirty and oily hair, makes it soft, after which such hair is easy to comb. Thanks to cocoglucoside, the skin is cleansed, improving the penetration of moisturizing components that are included in cosmetic products. The overall effect of this substance is to smooth the hair structure and increase its volume.
Cocoglucoside is also included in children's creams, ointments and pastes; wet disposable wipes are saturated with it. It is used as an active substance in products for cleansing the skin of children and women after cosmetics, and in sunscreens. Typically, coco glucoside interacts with base surfactants to enhance its cleansing effect.
Cosmetic properties:
- works as a foaming agent, conditioner and emulsifier;
- helps increase the foaming capacity of the solution, and is especially useful in hair care products, where it has the ability to increase manageability;
- as a surfactant, gently cleanses the skin and hair;
- as an emulsifier - prevents emulsion from separating;
- enhances the cleaning and moisturizing properties of the substances contained in the product;
- gently and carefully cleanses skin of all types;
- restores the natural lipid balance of the skin, softens the surface of the skin, nourishes it, restores the damaged natural protective barrier;
- carefully cares for the hair, carefully cleansing its surface along the entire length, avoids excessive dryness of the hair and the surface of the scalp, gives the hair strength and strengthens it;
- gives volume to hair, responsible for its healthy appearance;
- does not irritate or dry out the skin of the hands.
Coco-Glucoside is used to reduce the surface tension of cosmetic products. As a result, they can sink deeper and do a better job of cleaning the top layer of skin. Softens the irritating effects of anionic surfactants. This ingredient is used as the main surfactant in foaming agents: it increases the amount of foam and stabilizes it. Used as an emulsifier to give a delicate consistency to cosmetic products. Coco-Glucoside is highly valued by manufacturers of children's cosmetics.
This ingredient is compatible with all skin types and is gentle enough to be used in baby products.
Contraindications include individual incompatibility.
