Allantoin

Allantoin (C4H6O3N4) is a powdery substance of small white crystals.

Its composition contains about 99.2 percent pure allantoin. Melts at a temperature of 226.5 degrees Celsius. Its optical rotation rate is plus 0.05 degrees.

It contains 0.30 percent of similar substances and can lose the same amount during drying. Allantoin contains about 0.03 percent ash and 3 ppm heavy metals. It is dangerous to heat it to 60 degrees Celsius.

Allantoin has absolutely no taste and can react with basic hydroxides and nitric acid. Allantoic acid can be formed if allantoin is heated by adding potassium hydroxide. If you heat allantoin by adding hydrogen iodide, you can get glycolyl urea.

Allantoin is obtained in two ways - artificially or using sprouted wheat grains. You can also get it from the root part of the medicinal comfrey, a plant that has been used in folk medicine since ancient times. Comfrey is an effective healing agent that helps wounds heal without problems in record time. It contains fructose, glucose, glucuronic acid, and is also rich in mucopolysaccharides, glucosides, tannins and carotenes.

Another property of allantoin is its astringent ability. It relieves inflammation of the skin, heals damage and stimulates skin regeneration.

If you mix it with biotin, add calcium pantothenate and ascorbic acid, you can make it more saturated with vitamins.

It can soften the effect of various substances found in cosmetics on the skin, relieve inflammation and stop inflammatory processes, accelerate skin regeneration and help grow new cells, reduce pores and make the skin soft.

If the skin has been damaged by sun rays or wind, then it simply needs products with allantoin. It is often included in deodorants and products for strengthening or stimulating hair growth. Most often, cosmetic products contain no more than two percent allantoin.
