Collagen
Collagen is a structural protein that is the basis of connective tissues. It is collagen that is responsible for the strength, elasticity and youth of tissues. The collagen fibers located under the epidermis, like a frame, maintain the skin in a taut state and protect it from the formation of wrinkles, and also restore and tone connective tissues.

Despite the fact that collagen is primarily associated with youthful skin, it has many other equally important properties. In addition to the fact that it moisturizes and increases the firmness and elasticity of the skin, it perfectly solves the problem of pigmentation disorders. Collagen is essential for healthy nails and hair, it improves vision, and is used in the correction and elimination of scars of various types. It is added to various cosmetic products, the action of which is aimed at stimulating the skin renewal process. In addition, collagen stimulates the restoration of normal bone density, which is especially important for diseases such as osteoporosis. Collagen fibers found in muscle tissue maintain muscle elasticity and flexibility.
Properties of collagen used in cosmetics:
Rejuvenating. Collagen in cosmetics stimulates skin fibroblasts to synthesize new collagen fibers, increases skin firmness and elasticity, prevents the appearance of wrinkles and smoothes out existing ones, and significantly slows down skin aging.
Moisturizing. Collagen in cosmetics forms a moisture-retaining layer on the skin, promotes the accumulation of moisture in deep layers and clearly smoothes the skin. When the collagen film dries, the skin tightens and provides a lasting lifting effect for several hours.
Because collagen molecules are quite large and do not penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin, creating a film on the surface of the skin. The collagen film retains moisture in the deep layers of the skin and helps smooth it out. Scientists believe that under the influence of skin heat, collagen chains on the surface of the skin disintegrate, and individual amino acids rush into the dermis, signaling fibroblasts to synthesize new collagen fibers. As a result, the cream with collagen provides a clear lifting effect, albeit short-lived.
To transport collagen into the deep layers of the skin, enhancer substances are added to cosmetics to accelerate the penetration of collagen amino acids. Using salon mesotherapy procedures, collagen is injected deep into the dermis. In this case, fibroblasts, using additional collagen amino acids, energetically destroy old collagen fibers that have lost their elasticity and create new ones, thanks to which our skin smoothes and looks younger.
Collagen is part of some bioactive supplements, when consumed, collagen amino acids can be very quickly delivered by the blood to places where the body especially needs renewal and additional synthesis of this protein.
Healing. Due to the elasticity of its fibers, collagen is capable of significantly accelerating the healing of burns, ulcers, cuts, and scratches.
Strengthening. Collagen strengthens the hair structure and gives elasticity to the nail plates.
The ability of collagen fibers to stretch and return to their original state is used in the creation of drugs that accelerate wound healing.
In medicine, collagen is included in preparations, sponges, plasters, and bioactive additives designed to accelerate tissue restoration after operations, to heal wounds, treat bedsores, burns, trophic ulcers, to alleviate joint diseases, and to quickly stop bleeding.
