Elastin

Elastin is a structural protein present in connective tissue fibers and provides its elasticity. In terms of functional properties, elastin is similar to collagen, and, like collagen, it tends to degenerate with aging.

Description: liquid without foreign impurities, slight sediment is allowed, white-cream color with a moderate odor.
Ingredients: glycerin, purified water, elastin of the dermis of herbivorous fish.
Water indicator, pH: 3.5.
Mass fraction of dry matter: 1.0%.
Mass fraction of protein: 2.0%.

Input percentage:

- moisturizing creams – 2-3%;
- anti-aging care (day and night) – 5%;
- whey – up to 7%.

Injected into the active or aqueous phase. Do not heat above 40°C, protein does not like it.

Elastin in cosmetics provides nutrition, increases skin elasticity and firmness, improves its visual characteristics, and also promotes skin regeneration. Elastin acts in a similar way in protective hair cosmetics.

Elastin is a magical anti-aging component, a key protein that, along with collagen, allows the skin to stretch and contract, returning to its original position. Elastin is an organic, natural ingredient for us; it is the main component of the skin, which gives it firmness, flexibility, and elasticity (hence the name of the component itself). As with collagen, our skin contains different types of elastin, which together form a complex supporting network of “threads” woven into other structures of the skin. Elastin fibers are intertwined, including with collagen fibers, and are surrounded by a mass of beneficial molecules such as hyaluronic acid. By the way, like hyaluronic acid, elastin also acts in the skin as an agent that effectively binds water.

Who is elastin indicated for?

Elastin will be useful for any skin type, but it is mainly intended for aging skin, as it can effectively strengthen its structure, prevent sagging and wrinkles, and also reduce the severity of signs of aging that have already appeared. Provides long-term nutrition to the skin, increases its elasticity and promotes regeneration. Hydrolyzed elastin, which exhibits pronounced moisturizing and film-forming properties, is indicated for strengthening and restoring damaged hair.

Who is contraindicated for elastin?

It has no strict contraindications: elastin is an organic protein that is initially contained in our body, so the skin reacts well to this component. However, in case of insufficient purification of raw materials of animal origin, foreign impurities can provoke an allergic reaction, although this side effect is recorded extremely rarely.

Cosmetics containing elastin

Elastin is widely used in nourishing formulas for facial and body skin care, anti-age series (wrinkle creams), as well as in active serums and concentrates, including those intended for use in combination with hardware procedures (for example, inonophoresis). As a rule, elastin is used in skin care cosmetics in a concentration of 2 to 10%: anti-age series, of course, should contain the maximum amount of this ingredient.

Somewhat less commonly, elastin is found in hair care products - protective masks, conditioners, leave-in treatment formulas, and styling products. This component can also be present in body lotions, cleansing and toning products for the skin, and in decorative cosmetics (foundations, foundations, concealers, lipsticks, etc.).
